A new exhibition in Objectifs’ Chapel Gallery in May sees eight local “creative authors” working in different disciplines come together to showcase their explorations of photography within their respective practices.
Curated by Ang Siew Ching, Like Opening One’s Eyes for the First Time features an illustrious lineup of exhibiting “creative authors” from different generations and fields, such as architect Randy Chan, multidisciplinary artist ila, writer Marc Nair, and the late Lee Wen and Chua Ek Kay.
As its title conveys, this group show seeks to offer fresh definitions of photography and its potential, by proposing it as a node in creative thinking endeavours of various disciplines. The eight “creative authors” in this exhibition do not profess to use photography as their main medium but use it for playful experimentation, note-taking purposes, to pursue an impulse, and to orient themselves in real or virtual spaces.
The exhibition is supplemented by a robust public programme that includes a panel discussion, interactive curator-led exhibition walkthroughs, workshops, and a book club on photography theory. Please see below for further details.
