This exhibition features works produced by the BA(Hons) Level 2 students from the Fashion Design and Textiles, and Fashion Media and Industries programmes from the School of Fashion, in response to the project, Luxury 2.0: Drape, Structure, Digitality. This project invites the viewer to explore and question the meaning and relevance of luxury through the lens of fashion, as we shift the intersections between material culture and the immaterial, digital world. The permeation of new technologies allows us to explore and expand on cultural narratives from the ASEAN region in new ways, providing fresh perspectives on regional geographies, periods, habitats, cultures, behaviours, rituals and beliefs. By shifting the eye of reality from the material to the immaterial articulated through virtual experiences and digital media—the fashion of today has already departed from the familiar and the archetypal. Through this investigation into LUXURY 2.0: Drape, Structure, Digitality we can define our interpretation of tomorrow’s fashion today.
