Memorandum is a collection of new works by Indonesian artist Dedy Sufriadi. This new solo exhibition explores the process of merging philosophical and pop-culture texts with symbols spontaneously triggered by excerpted passages. Sufriadi expresses his emotions, including his life experiences and emotional journey through various series such as the ‘Burning Series’, ‘Object Series’, the ‘Dalai Lama’ and ‘Books’ series. Combining cultural and political themes, Sufriadi creates a sense of fascination as well as mystery and meaning behind each work. He uses an array of media on canvas to give his works a multi-dimensional feel, and his use of words and letters in various languages, infuses the historical importance of symbolism into his abstract expressionist composition.
