The question of “who am I” is one that artists and thinkers have returned to time and again throughout mankind’s existence. In his search for an answer, Korean artist Moonassi has come to terms instead with a non-answer.
In “Ephemeral Silhouettes”, Moonassi’s first exhibition in Singapore, he attempts to capture and convey the futility of the search for identity. His explorations had recently taken him to Norway where he was an artist-in-residence at Kunstnarhuset Messen. Hoping to find clarity amidst the calm of a small town far away from the bustle of Seoul, Moonassi was again thwarted by his own mind worrying about the family and friends he had left behind. Though the stint did not produce the answer he desired, it did illuminate to him why an answer might never be found.
Together with the drawings on display, Moonassi will be painting a mural on-site.
Colouring Session: Visitors are also welcome to join in a colouring session with the artist, a meditative experience that oers a glimpse into how the artist works.
