With the support from Mountbatten Community Arts and Culture Club (CACC), the National Antiquities Parade is an interactive art installation that invites Singapore Art Week explorers to restore and paint freshly unearthed clay figurines depicting the last National Day held at the Kallang National Stadium.
Residents of Mountbatten collaborated with professional artists to create this “archaeological discovery”, commemorating the inspection of the Guard of Honour during National Day Parade.
Arts Conservator and interdimensional traveller Dr Farook Farkhan from the Temporal Displacement Agency is seeking your assistance. With their unique perspectives and creativity, can contemporary Singaporeans paint the sculptures in the colours of national unity in time for SG60 celebrations?
This community-driven participatory arts project is a tribute to Mountbatten’s unique contribution to Singapore’s nationhood as the only residential area to host National Day parades from 1973 to 2006.
