National Children and Youth Art Competition—Courage, Hope and Love in the time of a pandemic

The National Children and Youth Art Competition—Courage, Hope and Love in the
time of a pandemic
is an art competition organised by Visual Arts Centre with the intention to inspire the children and youth of Singapore to create original artworks based on their reflections of the courage, hope and love experienced or felt during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit all of us hard, where restrictions in mobility mean our time is now mostly limited to the home. If you have free time to kill and are looking for an opportunity to let your creativity spill, how about challenging yourself to participate in our competition?

Having expanded yourselves in the realm of science and math in school, this competition will help to stretch your mind in other ways, where you can use solely your creativity and imagination to bring to life your intimate, inner world. It will also motivate you to creatively brainstorm and develop your skills in order to accurately translate your perspective of the world onto paper. By liberating your art from the confines of your mind, you can clear your headspace so that you are better able to take in new knowledge and new experiences.

Participating in this competition will also boost your portfolio, and having your artwork seen by our panel of crème de la crème judges provides an ideal opportunity to make an impression in the local arts community. Certificates will also be given out to finalists as a token of recognition for the budding artists.

This art competition is supported by major art societies in Singapore—the Federation of Arts Societies (Singapore), Singapore Watercolour Painting Society, the Lanting Art Society, and the Siaw-Tao Seal Carving and Chinese Ink Painting Society.

This competition is open to children (ages 7 to 11) and youth (ages 12 to 18).

We look forward to seeing your submissions!
