OPEN END: Resonate, Re-Read and Re-Trace The Substation Archive explores the legacy of Singapore’s first independent contemporary arts space, The Substation, through works of artists Chong Li-Chuan, Urich Lau, and curator Adrian Tan.
The exhibition activates the typically quiet and still Rotunda Library & Archive with text-based compositions, video installations, and soundscapes, exploring and creating new narratives surrounding The Substation’s legacy.
Drawing from The Substation’s extensive archive of publications, exhibition catalogues, ephemera, and digital archives, OPEN END intertwined artworks and archival materials to offer re-readings of the Substation’s history and its communities. Complementing the show are public programmes featuring curator-led tours, an artist panel with curators, and a public art performance in the Rotunda Archive.
