Life is anything but routine at 25 homes across the island as participating residents, under the guidance of seasoned artist-mentors, take a break from their everyday lives to perform their personal stories to audiences in the intimacy of their living rooms. They are participating in Open Homes, a SIFA 2015 commissioned production in collaboration with PAssionArts of People’s Association.
Open Homes is part of the SIFA 2015 larger initiative called SIFA Network. This initiative takes audiences beyond the civic district, where arts have traditionally been concentrated, to interact with audiences intimately. In Open Homes, the intimate living spaces become exciting theatre spaces, bringing to life personal narratives of those who live in them.
Of the 25 presentations, four will be in Mandarin. Presentation themes are diverse and eclectic, and audiences are expected to be given privileged glimpses of the residents’ loves and lives, as well as enjoy the warm hospitality of the residents, many of whom will also be treating their guests to food, drinks and snacks.
Open Homes is a SIFA commission in collaboration with PAssionArts of the People’s Association, and will take place on 5, 6, 12 and 13 September, offering 100 shows in 25 homes across the island.
Free admission, but pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited in these living-room theatres. Register and obtain more information from www.sifa.sg/sifa/show/open-homes/
