Bradley Foisset, 2015, Bringing fire to its nest, laser print mounted on aluminum, 84 x 118 cm
Galerie Steph presents a group exhibition of 3 young Singapore artists. Titled Peculiar Textures, the exhibition will feature all new works from Bradley Foisset, Hilmi Johandi and Luke Heng. While all 3 artists are primarily trained in painting, they also bring into play other media such as video, collages and drawings.
Peculiar Textures highlights the particular and idiosyncratic results of each artist’s process, techniques and meditation as they compress layers of time, space and memory into their works.
Bradley, born 1979 in Buffalo, New York, is personally and artistically finding rebirth in his new environment. He examines both human and physical landscape and its impact on him as an American living in Singapore. His new series of work embodies the experiences, memories and histories of his family and his travels.
Hilmi, born 1987, has developed a distinctive visual language that marries painting with film. In doing so, he compresses temporal and physical space into a non-‐linear narrative on canvas, suggesting time and movement on an otherwise static surface.
Luke, born 1987, will show a series of drawings made from pencils, oil pastels, soft pastels and oil sticks. His works are an imprint of his meditations on the materials and surface of his paintings and drawings.
