What if when I say I am working on my relationship with the audience I meant it literally?
What if when I look back at the audience from the stage, I can look at each of you in the eye and recognise you?
What if we have already had an intimate relationship by the time you come into the theatre to watch me?
Through planetromeo.com, I went on 40 dates in 60 days.
On the outset, I approach these dates less as an artist conducting research than as another person looking for social or intimate interaction online. During the encounters, I ask each date for a gift in response to our new connections. The gifts could come in various forms and media and are decided by the dates themselves. These were then incorporated into the staged performance. Conclusively, I invite my dates back to the performance where I return my gift in the form of a dance.
