Join us for an inspiring evening of storytelling, creativity, and conversation! This event will showcase animated short films crafted by female and non-binary filmmakers, each bringing fresh perspectives and unique visions to the screen.
Following the screening, a panel discussion with the featured creators will delve into their creative processes, the challenges and opportunities they’ve encountered in the animation industry, and the power of inclusive storytelling. The panel will be moderated by Natalie Khoo from Asian Film Archive.
Whether you’re an animation enthusiast, an aspiring filmmaker, or simply curious about new voices shaping the medium, come join us in learning more about the vibrant diversity driving the future of animation in Singapore.

About The Speakers
Annie Hung (she/they) is an artist and filmmaker from Singapore whose practice explores the tender complexities of emotion. They reimagine memories through comedic animated creatures and objects, while also revealing overlooked moments of joy within discomfort. Their work often celebrates queer love, self-identity, and the collective joy of community.
Audrey Yong is a versatile craftsman of both physical and digital mediums. Though primarily a stop-motion generalist, her wheelhouse of skills extend to both 2D and 3D animation. Armed with an innovative mind and the (occasionally misplaced) belief that she can solve anything, she’s at her happiest when there’s a creative problem she can sink her teeth into.
EXYL is a filmmaker and animator born and raised in Singapore. They were trained in painting and drawing, but moved slowly but surely into time based mediums like live action and animation. They graduated with a BFA with honors in Film/Animation/Video from Rhode Island School of Design.
Their films have shown in internationally acclaimed festivals like Slamdance, Ann Arbor, Singapore International Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, Encounters, San Diego Underground, Linoleum and more. They were awarded the Terri Schwartz Asian Film Award at Ann Arbor and Best Animation at National Youth Film Awards Singapore. They will be attending fellowships and residencies at Ox-Bow School of Art, I-Park Connecticut and Dirt Palace in the coming year.
Lolita Chiong is a bird lover. She has big heart and heart eyes.
About The Moderator
Natalie Khoo is a filmmaker and programmer based in Singapore with a background in archaeology and anthropology from the University of Cambridge. She programmes for Asian Film Archive and has curated Retrospective: Edward Yang, y2K DreamZ, Orienting Paradise and previously National Gallery. Her own films have screened at Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, Queer East Film Fest, Sea Shorts, Singapore Short Cuts, among others. She has served on the jury of FFD and Singapore Shorts.
