Echoing Namasivayam’s thinking and making, as epitomised by his artwork and sketchbooks in Earl Lu Gallery’s Points of Re-articulation: On Life Drawing in Singapore, this complementary exhibition refracts intergenerational currents of teaching and learning enabled by life modelling and figure drawing in fine arts at LASALLE.
By featuring a selection of sketches and compositions by undergraduate students who recently completed their first semester alongside the drawings of seasoned Singapore-based alumnae-artists who also educate—that is, to lead out through judicious expression and patient mentoring—we invite you to appreciate the dynamism of exchange and critique in our studios and to contemplate the powers of observation and juxtaposition that prefigure contemporary aesthetic and social sensibilities in and beyond the arts.
