Portable Art Week 2016 is an annual group exhibition of small collectible fine art from 13-22 October 2016. Portable Art Week aims to dispel myths that art collection is only for a select few, and ease off any intimidation that people may face in buying or collecting art. Instead, similar to the edition in 2015, Portable Art Week aims to be a friendly platform for collectors to explore artists new to them, ask questions and get up close with Singapore and Asian contemporary art, thereby encouraging and cultivating a “collectors” culture amongst art lovers that will help create a more vibrant art scene.
This year, the selection of works in this group exhibition includes Boo Sze Yang’s new oil paintings of transitory spaces, Jason Lim’s ceramic sculptures, Quek Kiat Sing’s ink on paper works showing corridor scenes and home animals, Ezekiel Wong Kel Win’s embossed prints with social commentaries, Tay Bak Chiang’s subject of rocks on canvas and Oh Chai Hoo’s ink on paper series, amongst others.
