DesignSingapore Council (Dsg) and ArtScience Museum are deepening their partnership through a year-long collaboration that explores how design, art, science and technology can expand public imagination while addressing the defining issues of our time. Unfolding across three presentations, the partnership invites audiences to experience design that crosses disciplines and challenges conventions at ArtScience Museum. Opening this collaboration is the homecoming of Prototype Island from 24 July to 20 September 2026 following its award-winning debut at Milan Design Week 2026.
Curated by Hunn Wai (Lanzavecchia + Wai) with Eian Siew as Assistant Curator, Prototype Island brings together 15 works by Singapore-based designers in a vivid reflection of the nation’s evolving design spirit.
The presentation was recognised by the Fuorisalone Award at Milan Design Week 2026, receiving the inaugural “Essere Progetto” Special Mention for its thoughtful interpretation and embodiment of this year’s theme. Translating to “Be the Project”, the theme reflects a dual idea: that people are active agents of change, and that design itself is an evolving process that reshapes how we relate to one another, to objects, and to the environment. Each work in Prototype Island offers a different entry point into how design can question assumptions, open new possibilities and respond to the urgencies of our time.
