RAID explores the intricacies of site as narrator within the historic Tiong Bahu Air Raid Shelter. Rarely opened to the public, the 1,500 sqm site has a long history dating as far back as 1939 during air raids by the Japanese in the 1940s, and has not been changed significantly since.
Extending the literature of site responsivity through the lens of eight up-and coming-artists working across fields of sculpture, installation, and conceptual art, RAID presents each artist’s interpretation of the loaded site — intuitively, architecturally or historically.
RAID features works by artist-organisers Daniel Chong, Zulkhairi Zulkiflee, and participating artists, Ivan Ng, Tay Ining, Vanessa Lim, Jacqueline Sim, Pooja Kanade, and Nhawfal Juma’at.
