Italian artists Gianni Dessi, Marina Paris together with Singapore’s Cultural Medallion winner, artist Milenko Prvacki, will delve into a discussion of the four Italian artistic movements of Arte Povera, Transavantgarde, New Roman School, as well as artistic positions of younger generations, which emerged during the 1990s and 2000s, that form the pillars of the exhibition. Moderated by Lorand Hegyi, the discussion will re- map the evolution of Italian contemporary art against the backdrop of change on a national and global level and focus on two strands – firstly the dialectical tension between avant-garde groups that emerged in the 60s and the artistic movements after the 80s and 90s and secondly, revisiting the ‘narrative’ of contemporary art from the 2000s and beyond.
