Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and Post-Museum have partnered up to bring awareness to the growing issue of fashion waste with the third edition of the Renew Earth Sweat Shop. This collaboration presents an opportunity for future professionals to explore and capitalise on innovative solutions in Singapore’s green economy.
Students from NAFA will take centre stage in a seven-week programme where they will research, design and present sustainable solutions for the fashion industry. This will culminate in a public showcase at library@harbourfront from 20 July (Wednesday) to 8 August (Monday) 2022.
The showcase will address the impact of fashion waste through a digital presentation, alongside a catalogue of sustainable fashion and product designs. Additionally, NAFA students will lead interactive upcycling workshops to engage the community by drawing together fashion, art, and environmental sustainability from 22 July (Friday) to 24 July (Sunday). Utilising fashion waste such as discarded clothing and fabric scraps, participants will be guided by the students to craft wearable accessories and decorative art.
