Saturdate – June 2025 Edition

Sat 28 Jun 2025, 11.30am – 6.30pm
Objectifs Annexe

Saturdate is a new programme happening on the last Saturday of the month that aims to create a gathering space of exploration, discussion and activities, highlighting the playful and creative forms of photography and filmmaking. Whether you are a young budding visual storyteller, or an experienced professional, there is something for everyone. The first 30 people receive a special stamp card to mark your progress with the activities! Complete 2 / 3 activities to get a 10% discount from our bookstore (T&Cs apply).

ACTIVITIES

Talk and Workshop by THEBOOKSHOW
2pm – 3.30pm
Minimum $5 donation per pax, RSVP here
Attend a talk by THEBOOKSHOW, and find out more about their practices as a Singapore-based initiative that began in 2014. THEBOOKSHOW is a platform for aspiring artists to showcase self-published artist books conceived out of passion. Through the use of the book, a basic and familiar medium, THEBOOKSHOW advances towards being a mediator between the art world and the general public.

THEBOOKSHOW is also hosting a zine-making workshop called ‘Dirty Laundry’, an attempt at giving all the images that have fallen through the cracks another attempt at life. Come explore the grey, muddy area of what makes an image or a photograph ‘good’ or ‘bad’.

Artbook Swap Station
All-day
Have too many artbooks lying around your house, no longer sparking joy? Get some new inspiration by exchanging your pre-loved artbooks with someone else’s, and may your artbook collection renew your passion for creating once again!

How does the Artbook Swap work?

– Bring your pre-loved art books to swap for other titles.
– Zines, illustration-based art books, books about film and photography, and self-published photobooks are also welcome.
– Fiction books are not allowed.
– Please note that all unexchanged books have to be collected back at the end of the day.

Have more music memorabilia than art books to swap? From 5pm onwards, there will also be a Music Memorabilia Swap as part of Now Showing: Meet Me in Song. Please register here to take part in the Music Memorabilia Swap.

Jui Coffee
11.30am – sold out
Sip on a freshly made handcrafted brew at a specialty coffee pop-up by Jui Coffee — the perfect way to unwind on a weekend.

Venice sits on an upside-down forest. Beneath the stone are millions of trees driven into the sedimentary clay below the waters, their tips pointed downwards. Larch, pine, oak, elm, alder, […]

Is Ai Weiwei a figure of the past?

By embodying recognisable themes of political dissent, ideological trauma and cultural memory, early Chinese contemporary artists like Ai Weiwei acted as interfaces that helped the West understand China.
