Saturdate – September 2025 Edition

Sat 27 Sep 2025, 1pm – 7pm
Objectifs Annexe | Free admission to the event, with paid workshops

Saturdate is a new programme happening on the last Saturday of the month that aims to create a gathering space of exploration, discussion and activities, highlighting the playful and creative forms of photography and filmmaking. Whether you are a young budding visual storyteller, or an experienced professional, there is something for everyone.

ACTIVITIES

1. Talk and Nature Printing Workshop by Rusydan Norr
2pm – 3.30pm
Minimum $10 donation per pax, RSVP here
As part of Saturdate, artist and designer-in-training Rusydan Norr will share about his practice and introduce participants to alternative photographic processes in a hands-on, experimental anthotype workshop. Anthotype is an early, cameraless photographic technique that uses light-sensitive plant juices to create images. In this process, sunlight gradually bleaches the plant extract, revealing a delicate print over time.

The workshop explores how green waste can be repurposed into creative material, offering an experimental approach to image-making.

Having previously developed an anthotype series titled Softscapes, Rusydan will demonstrate the technique and share insights into this and other alternative processes he has explored.

About Rusydan Norr
Rusydan Norr (b. 1998) is a Singapore-based visual artist and designer in-training whose practice explores plants as resources of creativity and contemplation. Having worked across nature-based photographic processes and installations, he is drawn to the various scales of interactions and transformations that occur within and across living systems over time.

His on-going inquiry positions sculptural forms as open systems that also act as support structures – substrates shaped by and responsive to natural processes – meditating on conservation and the interdependence between ecological resilience, material decay, and the rhythms of more-than-human life.

Rusydan graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2019. He has shown numerously in Singapore since and participated in an inter-school exhibition abroad (Kyoto, Japan). Additionally, he has done artist residencies at 405 Arts Residency (SG, 2021) and Maison Des Arts George Claude et Pompidou (France, 2022) and Goethe Institute (SG, 2025). As of recently, he is studying Biophilic Design in the University of the Arts Singapore.
