Performing artists from various disciplines and cultures come together to celebrate Singapore Maritime Week this year in a new production about the maritime industry.
Inspired partially by newspaper reports of more women joining the Singapore maritime industry and by Joseph Conrad’s Lord Jim, Sea Dreams is a work conceptualised and produced by local arts and culture non-profit Global Cultural Alliance (GCA) that brings together story telling with a fusion of the various musical cultures of Singapore and circus arts.
The 45-minute work that will be staged at VivoCity Amphitheatre on 22 and 23 April tells the story of a young woman who overcomes initial family objections to join the industry.
Sea Dreams will be performed by well-known story teller Rosemarie Somaiah, fast rising music groups NADI Singapura, SA, OrkeStar Trio, Tamarind Sound Project and Bornfire Singapore and young vocal talent Su Paing Tun.
