The SG50 National Day Calligraphy & Painting Exhibition 2015 features more than 220 paintings and calligraphy works by amateur and professional artists such as Chua Mia Tee, Dr Lai Kui-Fang, Koh Mun Hong, Grace Tan, Dr Ho Kah Leong and many others.
The theme for this year’s exhibition is “Our Past, Present and Future”, as artists reflect on what SG50 means to them. The introspection is reflected in their works, which explore the link between Singapore’s past and future. With a range of artworks from calligraphy and paintings to wood carvings, the masterpieces display the artists’ love and gratitude for the country.
Also on display are the 18 winning entries from the annual Students’ Calligraphy Competition held in late July, where the students demonstrated their calligraphy skills through writing ancient patriotic poems and verses. The verses and poems were specially selected by a group of advisors, further advocating the role of Kongsi and NACC in educating and generating awareness on national consciousness and patriotism among the youth.
