Sharing the Moon is renowned Taiwanese artist Wu Kuan-Te’s solo exhibition, featuring incredibly detailed oil paintings reflecting the artist’s mystical inspiration from nature, infused by oriental philosophies of Oneness. In an almost ritualistic meditation before the blank canvas, the artist replaces the brush and executes the ‘subtractive’ oil painting techniques by scratching away paint with natural found objects, reflecting pure imageries of nature in his strokes.
In Wu’s circular title piece 共 月 Share the Moonlight, the bright reflective moon emits a golden glow that nurtures and unifies all living things beneath that shares its energy. We are ultimately connected; to the trees, to the branches, to a single blade of grass, and we exist to live in harmony.
