The revival of interest in craft, the handmade and the work of the artisan has gained momentum in recent years. The documentary puts the spotlight on one such artisanal trade in the US: hand-painted signs. Sign Painters (2014) examines the time-honoured craft; interviews the people who keep the craftsmanship alive, painting one letter at a time; and evaluates the relevance of their work in the contemporary world.
