Do you know how to order drinks at a kopitiam stall in Singapore? How does the Chinese Singaporean community celebrate Chinese New Year differently from other Chinese around the world? Learn more about the elements that make up our Chinese Singaporean DNA at SINGAPO人: Discovering Chinese Singaporean Culture, at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre from March 2020.
With the help of multimedia technology, visitors will discover traits that developed differently in Singapore, from language to food and festivals, in an immersive and interactive experience. Hear ‘first-hand’ stories from fellow Chinese Singaporeans who are keeping our heritage and culture alive; enjoy a feast for the senses featuring local heritage food; or compete with friends to complete the most number of drinks orders in a kopitiam-inspired game.
The exhibition hopes to inspire Singaporean youths to better appreciate the distinctiveness of their identities and get started on their own journey of cultural discovery. International visitors will also be able to understand more about the evolution of our distinctive Chinese Singaporean culture and the multi-cultural influences that have shaped it.
