The annual Singapore Art Book Fair will be happening this year from 29 June to 1 July at NTU Centre for Contemporary Arts Singapore in Gillman Barracks. For the first time in five years, fair director, Renée Ting, will independently organise the fair that both local and international creatives have been looking out for. This year’s fair will showcase up to 74 vendors including local exhibitors like The Book Show, and exhibitors from the region like TwelveBooks of Japan. This year’s fair would also host bigger presses like Germany’s Edition Nord.
Singapore Art Book Fair (SGABF) was first held in 2013 and had since expanded. The 2016 edition of the fair was held in the Art Science Museum Singapore with 34 local and international vendors, and had seen 15,000 fairgoers over a period of three days. The 2018’s edition of the fair will also feature a Zine Room, a section that will be curated by Squelch Zines to include zines from across the globe. SGABF aims to reach a wider audience by representing more local and international exhibitors and working with new artists and publishers in Singapore and the region. Leading up to the fair, the organising team has also interviewed 21 local creatives ranging from poets like Cyril Wong, to musicians like Kitchen Label.
