artcommune’s upcoming talk on 21st November, Wednesday will cover interesting insights on the life and art of Singapore’s most notable pioneer artist, Chen Wen Hsi (1906 – 1992). A pioneer of the Nanyang art style, Wen Hsi was an influential artist and educator in invigorated the early Singapore art scene by advancing the Nanyang art style as well as Chinese ink expression. As a Southeast Asian Master, his work is also highly prized in the wider market of China and Hong Kong.
Covering Chen Wen Hsi’s life and art, this talk will also discuss the authentication of his works and its market valuation executed across different periods.
