Windows are a common theme featured in Louise Hill’s body of work. She magics colour and form into multi-layered, intricate and colourful compositions that offer explorative vignettes of Asian cityscapes and motifs found in the places that she has called home: Shanghai, Hong Kong, and now, Singapore.
The show’s title, Singapore Streets, not only encapsulates the exhibition’s themes but is also the namesake of a new piece that Louise has created especially for the show at SIRI HOUSE. The sights and sounds of Singapore —their representation imbued with symbolism and meaning— are a constant source of inspiration for Louise.
Known for her colourful, vibrant artworks that explore the vernacular design of Asian popular and heritage culture, the Singapore-based artist will also take residency at the Art Space every Friday during the three-month exhibition duration. The artist also invites the public to private appointments to hear the stories behind her art and to see her at work.
Bookings can be made through her website www.louise-hill-design.com/book-a-private-appointment-1.
