Turn back time, ponder the present and imagine the endless possibilities that the future holds at the Singapore Writers Festival 2022. Happening from 4 to 20 November, the premier multi-lingual literary arts festival in Singapore celebrates its 25th edition this year and returns in full force since the pandemic. As the festival enters its quarter-life celebration, SWF 2022 reflects on its legacy and imagines exciting new futures with the festival theme, ‘IF’.
With more than 200 programmes over three festival weekends, from festival favourites to unexpected new offerings, there is something for everyone from children, youth to adults with this year’s exciting line-up of immersive experiences, exhibitions, performances, film screenings, meet-the-author sessions and panel discussions.
Do not miss out on the chance to meet some of the top literary talents from all over the world, with international headliners such as the prolific, multi-award-winning American writer and author of Citizen: An American Lyric Claudia Rankine; Lois Lowry, author of YA dystopian novel The Giver; award-winning Canadian poet and spoken-word powerhouse Shane Koyczan; American Nebula and Hugo Award-winning science fiction writer Ted Chiang whose short story Story of Your Life formed the basis of the 2016 film ‘Arrival’; and Whiting Award and the Jeannette Haien Ballard Prize winner, Jia Tolentino. Celebrate and contemplate alongside festival headliners from the region, and previous Festival Directors, Yeow Kai Chai and Paul Tan, as they present a throwback with a twist.
