The Singapore Writers Festival, one of Asia’s premier literary events, started in 1986 as a biennial festival. Now organised by Arts House Group, SWF is a highly anticipated event on the cultural calendar, presenting the world’s major literary talents to Singaporeans while shining a spotlight on homegrown and Southeast Asian creative talents. This year’s Singapore Writers Festival (SWF) coincides with Singapore’s 60th anniversary of independence.
SWF 2025 features over 200 programmes across English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil, accompanied by live translations for key sessions to make dialogue more accessible and far-reaching. From lectures, readings and intimate salons to large-scale performances and cross-disciplinary collaborations, the Festival stretches the boundaries of what a literary festival can be. Initiatives such as the Open Call, the Salon Series, and SWF Encounters create fresh entry points for audiences, while community-driven platforms like Stories Across Generations and Snippets of the Future invite intergenerational voices to reimagine our shared future.
