“Singkarpor REMIXED” is a solo exhibition by photographer AikBeng Chia, curated by John Tung. Presented as part of Singapore Art Week 2025, the show explores Singapore’s multicultural vibrancy and rapid transformation through the lens of one of its most prolific visual storytellers.
Over the past 15 years, AikBeng Chia has lovingly documented street scenes, landscapes, and candid portraits, capturing the richness of everyday life in Singapore. This series, titled “Singkarpor”, reflects the country’s name with a Hokkien twist and serves as a powerful visual archive of life amidst constant change.
“Singkarpor REMIXED” takes this archive to new heights, transforming it into an immersive art installation featuring large-scale photographic collages infused with the artist’s signature humour and spirit. From bustling precincts like Chinatown and Little India to the heartlands of Punggol and Sengkang, these works capture the unfiltered essence of Singaporean life.
Visitors are invited to step into the installation, blurring the boundaries between photography and interactive art. Whether you’re an art lover or a casual visitor, you’ll enjoy this vibrant showcase that offers a fresh perspective on Singapore’s culture and identity.
