The solo exhibition by Inessa K. features 26 art pieces created over the period of one year. It includes original paintings, a few reproductions of Rembrandt’s self-portraits and Chinese calligraphy pieces by an aspiring 10 years old artist – Inessa’s daughter. The title “Slow Art” also reflects the way she creates her paintings.
Artist Statement:
I draw daily in my sketchbooks and some sketches grow into art pieces. During my travels I collect artefacts, and some may find their new home on canvases. When working on a painting, I carefully balance background, composition, dynamics of colours and shapes as if am choreographing a dance. I savoir the process. I do not rush. I will recognize the moment when the painting is complete. And before that moment comes, I am busy creating whimsical worlds losing track of time.
About the artist:
Although born in Kazakhstan and a citizen of Russia, Inessa has travelled extensively in pursuit of her art. She sharpened her skills under renowned artists at Central St. Martin’s College of Arts in London, the Ruskin School University of Oxford, and the Russian Academy of Arts, and has called Singapore her home for the last 15 years. Her artworks are in private collections in UK, Singapore, Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Australia, Portugal, Austria, India, and Dubai.
