Showcasing more than 50 works by 20 artists from Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and more, A New Dialogue marks the first comprehensive selling exhibition to recognize the important artistic achievements from Southeast Asia, highlighting the region’s abstract art from the 1960s to the 21st century.
Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Sotheby’s Singapore, as well as the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence as a country, A New Dialogue celebrates the very essence of abstract form within a localised context, placing spotlights on the great influencers who have redefined abstract art in the region, including Singaporean artists Chen Wen Hsi, Cheong Soo Pieng, Lim Tze Peng, Seah Kim Joo, Tang Da Wu, Tay Bak Chiang and Wong Keen, as well as other established and contemporary artists from the region such as Fernando Zobel, Jigger Cruz, Ibrahim Hussein, Nasirun, Pham An Hai and more.
