Southeast Asian Film Series – Laos focus

The July edition of Painting with Light features two cinematic gems from Laos, Bouadeng (Red Lotus) by Som-Ock Southiphonh and Pai Tang (At the Horizon) by Anysay Keola. See how the Lao classic tells the story of two lovers separated by civil war while the latter pushes the boundaries of censorship with an honest depiction of the class divide in the communist state.
