‘Survival’ is a solo exhibition by Malaysian artist Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj. Expressing his concerns about endangered animals and animal rights, Najib adapts stenciling and marking techniques normally used by street artists to visualise his feelings onto canvas. The body language of the animals in his artworks evokes the sadness of the animals’ plight to the viewer. Developing from Najib’s previous ‘Migration’ series, which exposes the destruction of animal habitats as a result of human greed and the obsession with money and development, ‘Survival’ explores the idea of survival as animals migrate from their natural habitats to the urban jungle.
