Symbols and Scripts ā The Language of Craft features an impressive showcase of close to 150 items, including a collection of 5,000-year-old artefacts from the Indus Valley Civilisation, displayed in Singapore for the first time. The exhibition includes a specially commissioned contemporary installation by Singapore-based Indian artist and ceramicist Madhvi Subramanian, which fuses Indian and Chinese influences to tell the story of unknown labourers who were united by their shared experiences at the rubber plantations. As part of the exhibition, 15 craftspeople from India will offer visitors the opportunity to witness ancient craft traditions such as Indian leather work for shadow puppetry, and calligraphy in over 14 Indian scripts.
