Cuturi Gallery presents Tea Time by French artist Gaël Davrinche (b. 1971). In this new series of paintings, Davrinche invites viewers to pause, linger, and engage his works with fresh eyes, journeying beyond the surface of the visible. For Davrinche, the true essence of his art lies not in the immediate apparent but in the quiet revelations that emerge through time and contemplation.
In the past, Davrinche’s subjects were more recognisable, often reminiscent of ‘Corpus Botanica,’ a thematic collection that he meticulously developed over the years to explore the world of plants, flowers, and nature. Yet, these recognisable forms are gradually receding, offering viewers greater freedom to engage with the work on a more personal level. With this shift, Davrinche invites us to let our imaginations roam, embrace daydreams, question traditional representation, and experience painting beyond its literal subject.
