White is not emptiness. The intended Blanc is the void treated as substance; it is the art of “reckoning the white as the black.” In Eastern aesthetics, this is not mere absence, but a state of being-a vast capacity to contain all manifesta-tions.
This exhibition adopts “The Allure in Blanc” (The Void as Vessel) as its curatorial methodology, re-examining the spiritual possibilities of Dehua Blanc de Chine through a contemporary lens. Moving beyond a chronological retrospective, the curation employs a minimalist interplay of light and shadow, allowing the porcelain to re-emerge and breathe within the landscape of contemporary art.
Born from ancient craftsmanship, Dehua Blanc de Chine achieves a new resonance of form here. Figurative and abstract, mythic and spiritual, order and enlightenment-all coexist in a single glaze. In this silent return to tradition, the medium reveals its inherent, enduring power.
Set within the multicultural tapestry of Singapore, Dehua Blanc de Chine transcends its regional origins. It evolves into a universal spiritual language, engaging in a global dialogue. As the philosophy suggests: Blanc is a form of expression. In the interplay of the real and unreal, all forms are revealed.
