From 1 to 30 November 2024, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore presents The Art of Jade, a month-long exhibition showcasing the artistic creations of Chinese Executive Chef Leong Chee Yeng from Jade. Featuring a collection of over 50 ceramic pieces and oil paintings, this exhibition celebrates the fusion of culinary and artistic craftsmanship. A portion of the proceeds from the artwork sales will be donated to the Autism Resource Centre (Singapore).
For Chef Leong, the process of shaping raw clay and transforming fresh ingredients are interconnected forms of expression. He sees fire as the uniting element in both his kitchen and studio — the same flame that fires his wok also fires the kiln for his ceramics. Both crafts require skilled hands, precision, and a sensitivity to transform inspired thought into something that will delight the senses.
In The Art of Jade, Chef Leong goes a step further, expressing not only his culinary expertise but also his artistic flair through a collection of meticulously crafted ceramics. 88 percent of the pieces are wood-fired, a time-honoured technique that demands patience and dedication. The remaining works are fired in an electric kiln for a modern contrast — synonymous with his ability to fuse the old with the new, in both his ceramics and his cuisine.
