A cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary piece borne from the collaboration of artistes from France and Singapore, The Brook’s Clown is a hard-cover, large format photographic-and-comic artbook, combining on-site photography of renowned French theatrical talents Jean Lambert-wild and Marc Goldberg (in their roles as Gramblanc and Hatoff) at Singapore’s landmarks, taken by local director Ler Jiyuan, with illustration by leading figure in the local contemporary comics scene, Koh Hong Teng.
It incorporates philosophical undertones of one’s inner battles between materialism and intrinsic values, distractions from one’s life purpose, and the pursuit of happiness.
The artbook will be launched at its own exhibition at the National Library in conjunction with the Voilah! Festival, and will be the final installation of the Talking Clown Trilogy.
