In Lin Xiaonan (林小南) is a rare creative soul who excels professionally in twin callings of music and painting. One-half of the thrice-awarded singing duo Southern Duet (南方二重唱) at the Golden Melody Awards, Lin has also assembled an impressive resume in the visual arts, with The Colours We Meet (與你相遇的顏色) being her 20th solo exhibition and first one overseas. The exhibition is a travelogue of sorts, with the artist channelling the sights and sounds of her many sojourns in Taiwan and overseas into painting.
She has once claimed to be “sightseeing in the name of art”, and this exhibition will include glimpses of her latest impressions of Singapore. The oil paintings fall broadly into two categories: quintessentially Chinese landscapes and quirky musical semi-abstracts. It is the eye of an artist that can transform something ordinary into a vision of loveliness to be shared with her audience, transmitting her contagion of calm, peace and happiness.
