At the artist talk by Nandita Mukand, together with Kumari Nahappan, the curator of Nandita’s ongoing solo exhibition The Material of Time at Flaneur Gallery, Nandita will share the inspirations that guide her artmaking and processes. She will also talk about her journey to this stage of her artistic career and her plans for the future.
Nandita graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (First Class Honours) from the LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore and Goldsmiths, College of London in 2014. Upon graduation she was selected for the LASALLE Award for Academic Excellence. Most recently she completed an artist residency at the Bilpin International Ground for Creative Initiatives in Australia.
Her work creates an emotive connection through an exploration of material and gesture. In its crudeness and directness there is an attempt to probe the surface of our slick urban existence. It is a contemplation of the unhurried yet steady processes of nature, eternal cycles of growth and decay, accretion and erosion that hint at matters beyond our control and comprehension.
