In the last week of December 2017, iARC will be presenting its first exhibition in the gallery space. The exhibition title takes inspiration from Artistic Director Lee Wen’s ‘World Class Society’, first shown in ‘Nokia Singapore Art’ at the Singapore Art Museum between 1999-2000. Lee’s performance-installation had included a video, soft sculptures and an application form that participants fill up. Participants were awarded a ‘World Class’ pin badge upon completion.
Objects in this show will include unique paintings, drawings and documents that are held by iARC. These include works by local and foreign artists. Principal to this presentation are rediscovered drawings from ‘Post-Ulu’ (1999-2000), organised by The Artists Village and held at The Substation Gallery. A large number of drawings came from ‘Post-Ulu”s workshop/collaboration with teenage children and the public. Most of these drawings are marked with an address and the age of the child. It is hoped that from this show we can begin to contact these people again.
