The Politics of Print: elephant in the room

STPI presents the inaugural edition of The Print Show & Symposium Singapore, during Singapore Art Week from 22 to 31 January 2026. Organised by STPI, this new landmark initiative is the first of its kind in the region celebrating prints not only as a highly sought-after collectible medium but also as a vital platform for creative and conceptual innovation.

The Print Show & Symposium Singapore is presented as a dynamic two-part showcase which includes an exhibition of prints from leading print publishers and galleries, and a two-day programme of conversations around the expanded field of print in contemporary art.

The Print Show
The Print Show will feature 27 prominent contemporary artists who integrate printmaking into their artistic practices. As the first platform of its kind in Singapore dedicated to this medium, it has been organised to foster dialogue among the works. This offers audiences a deeper insight into the processes and inspirations that inform each piece. The exhibition will spotlight global icons and leading artists such as Jeff Koons, Louise Bourgeois, Tacita Dean, Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Chris Ofili, David Hockney, alongside Dinh Q. Lê, Kim Lim, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Hilmi Johandi and Irfan Hendrian.

The Symposium
The Politics of Print: elephant in the room
The Print Show is paired with a two-day Symposium, The Politics of Print: elephant in the room, organised by STPI and curated by Stephanie Bailey. Speakers include museum directors, curators and market leaders in the evolving landscape of printmaking in contemporary art will explore and debate over a diverse range of topics from printmaking to new technologies across 6 different panels. Speakers include Jenny Gibbs, Executive Director, IFPDA; Kathleen Ditzig, Curator, National Gallery Singapore; Sook-Kyung Lee, Director, The Whitworth; Bishal Yonjan, artist, curator, and member of Kalā Kulo; as well as artists such as Michael Craig-Martin, Salima Hashmi and Rirkrit Tiravanija.
