A 3 Session Series overview of the Contemporary Art Scene in Singapore.
Beginning with its roots in the revolt against the dominant painting mediums by The Artists Village collective, Dr. Sian Jay will introduce the pioneers who began using new media and approaches in their art making. Next, artist and curator Daryl Goh will guide us through the current exhibition at ArtScience Museum, Prudential Singapore Eye, and will explain the underlying ideas and practices that constitute the body of work of some of Spore’s renowned artists. The economics of contemporary art in Singapore will constitute the final session, where art historian Paul Khoo will discuss the city’s visual arts eco-system and the challenges facing galleries.
