The Third Paradise – Between Obverse And Reverse by Michelangelo Pistoletto

The title of the show refers to a new series of works by Michelangelo Pistoletto that explores the relation of the two sides of the mirror – the reflective one and the opaque – and the development of the form. This research begins with the art piece “Fronte e retro, alto e basso – Trittico” which presents the symbol of the Third Paradise formed by four semi-circular mirrors – two obverse and two reverse.

The symbol of the Third Paradise created by the artist is a reconfiguration of the mathematical infinity sign made of three consecutive circles. The two external circles represent all the diversities and antinomies, among which nature and artifice. The central one is given by the compenetration of the opposite circles and represents the generative womb of a new humanity. The Third Paradise is the third phase of humanity, realized as a balanced connection between artifice and nature.
