Following the first debut in Paris last March 2016, the Yokan Collection will be presented in Singapore through a gastronomic and cultural showcase where guests will be invited to unravel a once unknown and hard to understand part of the Japanese way of life.
Yokan is a signature Japanese sweet whose form is built from simple composites of Azuki red beans or other beans, agar and sugar. A single slice of Yokan encapsulates the beauty, philosophy and essence of Japanese culture that has evolved with the changing of seasons, and a craft that is refined over hundreds of years.
The Singapore edition of the Yokan Collection will be an ode to the sweet flavours of Japan. Opened to the public on 28 and 29 October at Gallery10 in the National Museum of Singapore, this Singapore edition is designed to tantalise the tastes and heighten the sensory experience for visitors through an educational, innovative and engaging showcase; revealing the links between food and design, tradition and innovation, Japanese culture and Singapore culture in an artful way.
