In celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Singapore, two non-profit organisations, Art Outreach (Singapore) and Guro Arts Foundation (Seoul, Korea), are collaborating to host a commemorative joint exhibition. The Singapore-based exhibition features works by seven emerging Korean artists, two of whom are based in Singapore. The other five artists had visited Singapore as part of the Guro Arts Road programme, a cultural exchange initiative by Guro Arts Foundation that supports Korean artists in gaining international exposure.
The Unbound Blossoms exhibition features works by these seven artists, including pieces inspired by Singapore’s unique environment, language, and cultural nuances. You can see how Singapore’s visual language—through colours, figures, and motifs—appears distinctly across the different works depending on the artists’ familiarity and time spent here.
