Singaporean artist and alumnus Tay Kiam Hong graduated from NAFA in Western Painting in 1965, before going on to pursue a career in interior design. He continued to paint and exhibit actively locally and abroad. Tay’s approach to contemporary Chinese painting techniques using marine life as a subject has become his signature style. Underwater Series 2020 is a culmination of two decades of Tay’s practice, showcasing the artist’s delicate yet powerful freehand style or xieyi, through a highly refined and expressive representation of marine life.
This exhibition was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and returns reimagined in 2021. Over 40 works, including large-scale paintings and handscrolls will be on display, specially created for this exhibition.
