Than Htay’s “Untitled” transcend national identity to address universal questions concerning belonging, displacement and hope. They remind us that landscapes need not describe physical terrain; they may instead chart emotional and ethical worlds. His imagined Myanmar is neither nostalgic fantasy nor political manifesto. Rather, it is an act of cultural preservation through imagination, where painting becomes a space in which peace can still be envisioned even when reality appears fractured.
