Urban Explorations is an ongoing investigation of how people of various communities around the world relate to aspects of their urban environment through the senses. It brings together a group of artists, researchers, designers and scientists to participate in urban sensing, an artscience approach to evaluating the conditions of an urban space through data collection from self-made low-tech tools and equipment. The exhibition topic poses the question: how can citizens innovate and attain ownership in the technological age in order to be involved in the development of smarter, future cities?
